Chapter 5 : A Twist of fate

Aadhya's POV

I woke up to the warm sunlight glowing through my curtain, shining directly on my face. It felt like I was in a spotlight, like I was some kind of celebrity.

I groaned and got out of bed, starting my daily routine. After a refreshing shower, I took care of my skin and dressed up, feeling somewhat energized.

As I headed downstairs for breakfast, I realized I was alone. Mom was already at work, and so were Papa and my brother, Neil. He claimed he needed to go to the gym with his "gym buddies," but I couldn't help but think he was just trying to sound cool. I mean, I'd never seen any impressive muscles or abs on him.

I sighed and opened the fridge, only to find that yesterday's food was all finished. "Kuchh khane ko nahin hai," I muttered to myself, ("There's nothing to eat.")

I settled for some corn flakes, eating them quickly before heading outside to our garage. My poor, smashed car sat there, a reminder of the accident. I glanced at the damage and thought to myself, "Yaar, I need to take it to the mechanic. I don't want to drive around in a broken car."

I locked the house and got into my car, starting the engine. But instead of the usual purr, it made a funny noise. I slammed the steering wheel in frustration. "Arehh bagwaan jee, is gaadi ko chalu karo," I exclaimed,

("Oh Lord, please make this car start.")

As I sat there, trying to will the car to start, I couldn't help but think about the events of the past few days. The accident, meeting Randhir that idiot, and then running into Anant again who is such a sweet man ...it was all so surreal.

I took a deep breath and tried the ignition again. This time, the car roared to life. I let out a sigh of relief and put the car in gear, ready to head to the mechanic.

As I drove away from the house, I couldn't shake the feeling that my life was about to change in ways I couldn't even imagine.

As I was driving to the mechanic, the car suddenly decided to break down in the middle of the highway. I screamed, "Ahhhhh bagwaan kyu kyu kyu!"

("Oh God, why why? Why?")

I tried to switch it on again and again, but it just wouldn't budge. I was starting to panic, thinking to myself, "Oh my lord, what do I do now? Madad karo, koi! ("Help me, someone!")

I stepped out of the car, making sure to put my hazards on since I was in the middle of the road. Then, I reached for the bonnet of the car to check if it was okay. I'm not a mechanic, but I know some basic things that Papa and Neil had taught me, just in case.

But as I reached for the bonnet, I burned my hand on the hot metal. "Ahh fuck it's so damn hot!" I exclaimed, my hand throbbing in pain. I looked at my hand and saw that it was red and blistering. "Ahh what the freaking hell!"

I realized I needed help, so I thought about calling Papa or Neil. But as I reached for my phone, I remembered that I had left it at home. "Shit, I forgot my phone! No no no, how can I be such an idiot?" I felt like crying, stranded on the highway with no phone and no way to get help.

I stepped out of the car again, looking at the cars whizzing by me. I thought to myself, "Gosh, how am I going to stop these cars? Honestly, I just want to cry right now."

I looked up at the sky and prayed, "Hey Bhagwaan, mujhe madad karo. Main is highway par phansi hui hoon. Koi mere paas aaye, mere liye madad kare." ("Oh God, please help me. I'm stranded on this highway. Someone please come and help me.")

As I stood there, feeling helpless and alone, I wondered what would happen next. Would someone stop to help me, or would I be stuck on this highway forever?

Randhir's POV

I was cruising down the highway on my bike, the wind whipping through my hair, when I saw a car stranded on the side of the road. I slowed down, curiosity getting the better of me.

As I approached the car, I saw a girl standing next to it, looking frustrated and helpless. She was muttering to herself, and I caught a few words - something about being stranded and needing help.

I pulled over, shutting off my engine. The girl looked up, and our eyes met. It was Aadhya, the same girl I had crashed into a few days ago.

I couldn't believe the coincidence. What were the chances of running into her again, especially in a situation like this?

Aadhya looked at me, a mix of surprise and desperation on her face. "You?" she exclaimed, her voice laced with a hint of annoyance.

I grinned, feeling a sense of mischief. "Me," I replied, nodding. "Looks like you're in a bit of a pickle, Aadhya."

Aadhya sighed, looking at her car. "I was on my way to the mechanic, and it just broke down. I don't have my phone, and I'm stuck here."

I chuckled, feeling a sense of satisfaction. "Well, looks like I'm your savior, then."

Aadhya raised an eyebrow, a hint of skepticism on her face. "My savior?"

I nodded, grinning. "Yeah. But first, let me ask you something. Why didn't you just call a mechanic to your house instead of driving to the mechanic? Were your brains fried that you didn't have that idea?"

Aadhya looked at me, a sheepish expression on her face. "I...I don't know. I just wasn't thinking, I guess."

I shook my head, laughing. "Well, that was a bagwaas idea, if I ever saw one. Driving a broken, smashed car to the mechanic? Not your brightest moment, Aadhya."

Aadhya looked at me, a hint of defensiveness in her eyes. "Hey, I was just trying to get it fixed!"

I held up my hands, grinning. "No worries, no worries. I'm just teasing you. But seriously, let's not try to drive that thing anywhere. It's not safe."

Aadhya nodded, looking relieved. "You're right. I wasn't thinking."

I smiled, feeling a sense of satisfaction. "That's okay. I'm here to help. Now, let's get your car towed to the mechanic. I'll call them with my phone, and they'll bring a tow truck."

Aadhya nodded, looking grateful. "Thanks, Randhir. I owe you one."

I grinned, feeling a sense of triumph. "No need to thank me, Aadhya. I'm just happy to help. Now, let's get your car fixed and get you back on the road."

I pulled out my phone and dialed the mechanic's number. Aadhya looked at me, a mixture of relief and embarrassment on her face.

"Kya kar rahe ho, Aadhya?" I teased, grinning at her. "Driving a broken car to the mechanic? Tumhare dimaag mein kya tha?" (What were you thinking?)

Aadhya rolled her eyes, laughing. "Shut up, Randhir. I wasn't thinking, okay?"

I chuckled, shaking my head. "Well, at least you're safe now. And I'm here to help."

I spoke to the mechanic on the phone, arranging for a tow truck to come and pick up Aadhya's car. As we waited, I couldn't help but tease Aadhya some more.

"Arre, Aadhya, tumhare car ki haalat dekh kar, lagta hai ki tumne use kabhi maintain nahi kiya." (Looking at your car's condition, it seems like you never maintained it.)

Aadhya playfully hit me on the arm. "Shut up, Randhir! It's not my fault the car broke down."

I held up my hands, grinning. "Okay, okay, I'm just joking. But seriously, Aadhya, I'm sorry again for smashing into your car. It was my fault, and I feel terrible about it."

Aadhya looked at me, her expression softening. "It's okay, Randhir. Accidents happen."

I shook my head, feeling a pang of guilt. "No, it's not okay. I should have been more careful. And to make up for it, let me pay for the tow truck. It's the least I can do."

Aadhya looked at me, surprised. "You don't have to do that, Randhir."

I smiled, feeling a sense of relief. "I want to, Aadhya. It's my way of saying sorry. And who knows, maybe it'll bring me some good karma."

Aadhya laughed, smiling at me. "I think it already has, Randhir. You're helping me out of a tough spot."

I grinned, feeling a sense of satisfaction. "Anytime, Aadhya. That's what friends are for, right?"

As we waited for the tow truck to arrive, I couldn't help but feel a sense of camaraderie with Aadhya. Maybe, just maybe, this accident was a blessing in disguise.

Aadhya's POV:

I looked at Randhir, confused, when he said, "That's what friends are for." Friends? We weren't friends. We were just two people who had met under unfortunate circumstances.

But I didn't say anything, instead choosing to ask him about his bike. "So, Randhir, what's with the bike? You're quite the enthusiast, aren't you?"

Randhir grinned, clearly proud of his bike. "Yeah, I love riding. There's something about the freedom of the open road that just can't be beat."

I nodded, pretending to be interested, but really, I was just trying to distract myself from the fact that Randhir was being really nice to me. And that I was actually starting to enjoy his company.

I glanced at the helmet he was wearing, trying to sound casual. "And the helmet? It looks pretty cool."

Randhir chuckled. "Thanks. I just got it recently. It's got all the latest safety features and whatnot."

I nodded, feeling a little silly for admiring him. But I couldn't help it. There was just something about Randhir that drew me in.

Just then, the tow truck arrived, and Randhir helped me get my car hooked up. As we waited, he paid the tow truck driver and then turned to me.

"Alright, Aadhya. I hope your car gets fixed soon. Take care, okay?"

I nodded, feeling a little surprised by his concern. "Thanks, Randhir. I appreciate it."

Randhir grinned and then waved goodbye as he got back on his bike. "Chalo, take care!"

I watched as he sped off into the distance, feeling a little strange. I wasn't sure what to make of Randhir's sudden niceness, but a part of me was glad that he was being so kind.

As the tow truck driver helped me into the passenger seat, I couldn't help but glance back at the highway, wondering if I would see Randhir again soon.
